Poetry Blog Rankings

*Please read through the following list of the most common inquiries for this site. And if those don't assist you, please contact us by filling in the brief form at the bottom of this page to submit your inquiry.  Don't forget to include your correct email address and an appropriate heading. We'll respond to you as soon as possible.

How Can this site help me get my poetry read more?

  • Well, it won't get your poetry read less! But to maximize the potential of what this site can do for you, get at least 5 people to join the site and vote for you. It's NOT cheating, but is rather a great way of coupling your poetic skill with the skill of self-promotion as well as obviously and obligingly increasing the readership of the entire site.
  • If you'd like to promote this site (further maximizing your potential readership), you should embed one of our YouTube Advertisements in a blog of yours or on your actual profile. Click here to view and choose one of our promotional videos. Either link the url of the video or copy and paste the embed code anywhere you'd like to place the promotional tool.

To MODIFY, EDIT, or DELETE Your Profile---

  • To modify your link or other information, log-in then press the My Profile tab. After that, press the "edit profile" link that can be found in the upper right hand corner of that page. If you wish to delete yourself from the site, go to the aforementioned page and leave your alias and url areas blank... But please realize that a listing on this site is free advertising and there's nothing wrong with getting more people to read your work. And keep in mind that this will only take you off the complete list of poets... you'll always be on the site as a voter (unseen, of course).
  • This site is still improving and will continue to work towards its goal of getting every online poet read much more extensively by a wider audience. To assist with our efforts, click here to view the "donations" page where you can also view a list of future ideas we have in store for the site. Thank you to all of those who have already donated, no matter the size of your donation.
  • If you wish to stop receiving update emails from this site, simply block our domain address within your email console. We will never reveal or sell your email to another party.

A Faulty Link or "SOMEONE'S LINK GOES TO MY PAGE!"---

  • If someone's link sends you to your page and not theirs, they've provided the wrong link and in no way are they trying to invade or offend you. Furthermore, others may have provided links that lead nowhere or to private pages. If you're able to contact these individuals, please direct them to this page so they can read the following:
  • TO MAKE YOUR LINK WORK, you must unset any privacy settings you have placed on your site and you must choose a link that works for the general public. To check your link, log out of the site that holds your poetry and click the link you provided afterwards. If it leads you to a log-in page or anywhere but your blog section, the link is faulty. Check the image below to see exactly how to acquire the proper link. For sites other than MySpace, use a link that displays your blog section.

Trying to get high rankings?---

  • INVITE YOUR READERS!!! All you need are 5 people (besides yourself) to rank your poetry moderately high to get into the top level of those ranked. Furthermore, your readers are the people whose opinion you should trust and they're also the people who can help place you at the top of this site so your poetry can be read by even more. Place your PoetryBlogRankings Poet Profile url in your blog section or in an actual blog, or use the imaged link provided to send your readers directly to your profile to rate your poetry. After your readers click the link they will have to quickly register, then they will be redirected to YOUR profile immediately afterwards.
  • Those ranked highly are probably those with the highest skill of self-promotion coupled with poetic talent and presentation. Click here to view and choose one of our promotional videos to assist you in your efforts.

Are your rankings too low?---

  • Don't get discouraged by low rankings. What's a 10 rating in someone's mind varies from person to person. A 10 could be you or it could be Shakespeare. If it's the latter, then we probably all deserve 1's. And PLEASE REMEMBER, the ratings don't really matter and are probably more indicative of how well you present your poetry to the general public and your skill of self-promotion, rather than just your ability to write a poem.
  • The purpose of this site for poets is to get read more. The purpose of this site for readers is to organize your favorites so it won't be so hard to find the poetry you happen to like. The purpose of this site for everyone is to improve online poetry by reading the work of others and using that as a catalyst to eventually create something great.

Is this a Popularity Contest?

  • No. The formula is set up to normalize the distribution across all fields, as long as a poet has at least 6 ratings. Meaning, if you can somehow find 6 people (including yourself) who think the world of your poetry, you'll automatically be listed at the top of the site. From there you'll undoubtedly be ranked by countless individuals, which- coupled with the ratings given by those most familiar with your work- should give a true estimate of what the general population of readers thinks of your work in comparison to the other works placed on this site. If anything, the rankings represent your poetic skill mixed with your skill of self-promotion.
  • However, rankings should not be held so highly. What should matter is getting read more. Even if just a few more people are reading your words now, see that as a blessing.
  • See it as your voice slowly getting louder in a world fated by silence. You can also do your part in keeping this from being a popularity contest by rating as many poets as possible, regardless and without being influenced by their standing (whether high or low).
